I may, or may not, pick one painting style, and a subject matter that lends itself to that style/technique. Haven’t decided yet. Some say I need, “A body of work”! Not sure that, at least for me, means I must do a similar thing over and over.
Let me know if one direction, subject, or technique seems more interesting to you?
ARTIST STATEMENT (I think it’s required?)
A photograph presents to the viewer a location/view that they missed, either because they weren’t there, or if they were they just didn’t see it. Painters and sculptors also “see”. Abstract painters seem to see and feel as they go. Sculptors tend to see a finished product. A painting interprets a scene and adds to it, or it may create something that did not previously exist.
If you like my shots, sculpture, and paintings, your sensibilities are similar to mine (you like what I see) that’s not necessarily right or wrong.
Being an artist is intense, complicated, challenging, and immensely satisfying. I don’t want the viewer to work as hard as I have. No need to think, extrapolate, infer, or see some political statement, just enjoy the work. You can “see” it for what it is, or interpret it any way you wish.
